Cryptantha
Hello. I was here before, long ago. I taught myself Japanese by translating manga, and hopefully am good enough to translate for this group. I have a degree in Spanish and I know some French, and a tiny bit of Chinese, can learn more at will. I really hope I've learned enough, but only a test would tell. Can't wait to try! MikiLi
Chinese Translator, if you still need those. Sorry, I can only work on one project at a time, and sometimes I do go to overnight camps where I have zero internet access. Just saying. Anyway, I'm pretty much the opposite of most other Chinese Translators, my family is from Taiwan and I can only read Traditional Chinese. I really don't have experience, besides reading Traditional Chinese...... that covers it, I guess. Edited May 17, 2012 by Cheesecake Sent. Tronny
Hi, I'd like to take the test for Japanese translation. I'm a 24 year old girl doing grad studies in math. Qualifications: I have a diploma in Japanese language from a North American university. I did a 1 year exchange to a Japanese university during my undergrad, and I also have experience working full time in a Japanese-language environment. I've been reading manga in English for about 8 years and in Japanese for 5. I can handle things other than just conversational fluff like cultural references, technical writing, some dialects, and even some classical japanese. My preferences: I prefer short projects (one shots or just one or two volumes) to epic never-ending ones. I like josei/smut or just something with an interesting romance. I'd also be really happy to do translation checking or consulting on tricky spots. Of the projects currently listed as needing translators, Oyayubi Hime looks most interesting to me. Edited May 25, 2012 by SoRa. Test sent. Quote Projects worked on: Suki Kirai Suki, Platinum Garden, Non Non Biyori, Mei chan no Shitsuji, Oyayubi Hime, Namae mo Shiranai, Folk Tail Tonakai, Snow Black ChristmasI'm retired from taking on regular projects, but I still enjoy occasional work without a long term commitment. Feel free to contact me about odd jobs like JMTLs, TL checking / reTLing, TLing oneshots, or TLing single chapters for projects that are between translators. smilllllllle
Hello, I'm applying for the Korean Translator position. I've had some experience with translating manhwa and anime such as: Naruto, Real Purple, Hikaru no Go, Prince of Tennis and such. I take it that there may be a test to assess my fluency? If the Korean Translator position is full, I am able to typeset and/ or edit but I would prefer to translate, considering that I do not have much time due to summer sessions. Hope to hear back soon.
