Questions

winrar/winzip to unzip the files we send you, any program that lets you view images (.png,.jpg, etc) like window's live photo gallery, irfanview, etc and a program that lets you write the translation and save it in (i.e. microsoft word/office) Preferably something that lets you save the file as .rtf/.doc like microsoft word

Unless you're on a mac/some other operating system, cuz I have no idea what programs they have XD

No specific deadline for the test. But keep in mind that once you join we do expect you to finish a chapter within a reasonable amount of time (1-2 weeks is ideal, but 3 can be reasonable too) 4 weeks or more usually depends on the priority of the project and how far ahead you are of the other staff (i.e. are you a few chapters ahead of everyone else and waiting for them to catch up or is everyone waiting on you for more chapters?) We try to be as flexible as possible since we know people have RL stuff like exams. But if everyone's waiting on your translations and it's been like 3 months...then...well...we might consider reassigning that chapter to someone else who can do it faster.

Looks like you already figured it out. Basically just leave a post in the corresponding thread and the head admin of that position will send you a test within a week ;)

(Editing thread is the only exception because the test is in the first post)

May I ask what the abbreviations for the positions are? Thank you in advance!

Do you mean the staff abbreviations?

We have:

translator = tl (K for korean, C for Chinese, J for Japanese)

Mtl = missing translations

Proofreader = pr

Cleaner = cl (though we don't use that much)

Typesetter = ts

Editor = ed

Quality checker = qc
