Hahahaha, no problem. I had 3 or 4 projects until a month ago, but I've been really really slow lately so I'm cutting back to get down to just 1 project for a while until I can handle more again.

For Steady Study: It has no deadlines and thus is placed at number 4 in my to-do list (see signature). That means it could take 2 or 3 weeks. As you can see, I have plenty to do between the MTL board, other reTL/rePR stuff, and my own projects, so if you have a willing TL who wants to do these then I certainly won't mourn the loss of that work.

For Pika: As a rule, if you post on the MTL board then a TL will get to it. There's no danger of it going unnoticed... I get e-mail notifications of new MTLs, so I usually see them within a couple minutes. If you don't hear back right away then either your TL request takes time because it's large or difficult or your translator is busy in real life and hasn't had time to sit do...

I can sort of understand it when Republicans win and Democrats say it, but I am totally baffled when I hear it after a Democrat win. You can't stand to see America taking steps towards universal healthcare, legal same sex marriage, and decreased military aggressiveness, and therefore you will move to a country which has had all of these things for a while now? (Also, we totally don't want your crazies - please kindly keep them. XD)

Getting ready to go watch my team play. (aka hooker makeup for a cause) The eyeshadow's a bright green in real life, but my camera and/or the lighting tinted things kind of orange and it muted the effect. Sorry for the epic blurriness as well, but I'm too lazy to retake it.

Well huh. I see what you're saying, and that is weird, but I took a look at the raws and it's actually written that way (ie, the TL is perfectly correct). The bubble on the right (that's supposedly coming from him) is even talking in a feminine manner (it uses watashi, but the devil uses boku throughout the rest of the story), so I conclude that it's actually a mistake made by the mangaka and/or their assistants. They made the 'tails' on the speech bubbles point in the wrong direction.

Awesome, sounds good. By the way, it seems like a lot of the staff like this author, and I remember seeing a few of her works in this list http://evilflowers.com/ipboard/index.php?/topic/1608-tessas-list-of-hq-raws/. Just something to keep in mind for the far far future when we're ready to pick up some new projects. ;D

What are your annoying experiences when scanlating?

Translating: Situations where the Japanese uses a nice variety of sfx (sound effects), but English doesn't have as many words for the same thing and it looks really stupid writing the same word a bunch of times. Sfx which are perfectly good in Japanese, but look stupid in English. Lisps, accents, baby talk, and character catchphrases... understanding is easy, but replicating in English is hard. -
I'm only speaking for Japanese language manga, because that's the only kind I have experience with. The books have smaller dimensions than English ones, and they're published on paper that's lighter and thinner. Overall, Japanese manga volumes are designed to be cheap and compact, not big and sturdy like they are here. This is just a difference in culture... in Japan, manga is something people trade around, sell to (and buy from) used bookstores, and sometimes just bundle up and put on the curb to be recycled. People also appreciate the compactness, because otherwise there's just no space to keep a lot of books. Prices there are typically 400 or 500yen new, 100yen used. On the other hand, manga volumes published in North America are big, sturdy, shiny, colourful, and expensive, and are meant to be like trophies on your shelf. Summary: Japanese 'raw' volumes are indeed smaller than the books sold in North America, and are also produced more cheaply. However, they're also priced way more cheaply to match (if bought in Japan).

I looked at the Edo Karuta raws and the first story is adorable. I didn't expect to like it, to be honest, but it's really sweet. However, I currently have 3 projects plus a one shot I offered to do for Ayne. Soooooo if this is still unclaimed by the time I finish Oyayubi Hime (TLing the third last chapter now), I'll take it on. Feel free to get another JTL, though, if someone else...
