iceis Posted December 28, 2012 Report Share Posted December 28, 2012 I just finished reading Masca and I started getting really confused at the end...these are some of the question I can't seem to find an answer to...could anyone please clue me in haha. The first question is: why does Kainen lose his immortality when it comes to love? and why does Kainen say you are born immortal but Gatmiel says you must kill the parent to become immortal? and is Gatmiel half Belial? and why in the sequal to Masca does it have Rakin say he is no longer immortal? It's ongoing so it's not finished I'm thinking maybe these things were answered in the original masca? " - The reason why he loses his immortality is because the mangaka hints at the fact that belials who love will become weak and die. It's a bit cliche-like, as other stories with demons, vampires, darker creatures, etc who seem invincible will die/lose immortatlity/etc when they fall in love. Hope that helped.... " and why does Kainen say you are born immortal but Gatmiel says you must kill the parent to become immortal?" - From what I could understnd from reading the series, I believe that when a belial is born, the mother dies in childbirth (?). "and is Gatmiel half Belial?" - Although not directly stated, I believe this is what the mangaka indicated. "and why in the sequal to Masca does it have Rakin say he is no longer immortal?" - I have not read this anywhere, so I don't know where you are getting this from.... jlucpitard Posted December 29, 2012 Report Share Posted December 29, 2012 Rea is the key to why Rakin loses his immortality, although he's still amazing and long lived as the king of Speria. Her death (not a spoiler as it's in the original series) was probably the trigger for him and Kainen's loss of immortality seems to hit him harder than Rakin's but that may also be due to him being older than Rakin. Rakin has her body preserved and hidden away deep in a series of enchantments. As to their origin- the mother- it's not clear and they may all have the same mother (or not) but I think Kainen and a few of the others indicate that she's dead, possibly killed by the mascans. None of the belial have boundary issues with each other and seem to visit for periods of time, so I wouldn't read too much into Rakin and Kainen living together. I personally have only worked on one chapter of Masca: The Beginning and am pretty much unfamiliar with the rest. However, most of our other admins/department heads are either busy or away at the moment, so I'm addressing your question for the time being. ^^ We'd like to translate and add those pages in if we missed them, but it would be helpful if you could give is some indication of where they should be (as in, which masca series - the original, The Beginning, or The Kings; which volume; and, if possible, which chapter or a general idea of which page) so our translators will have context and so we'll know where to put them when they're done (since, in all likelihood, if we didn't release them initially, they may have been somehow omitted from our raws). Please let us know that information or just give us a link to where you found the pages you posted here (actually please give us that link anyway so that we might make sure we're not missing anything else). Some time ago i downloaded raw volumes from a raw manga site but i don't know if it still exists. There are two more pages, but i don't know where axactly they are from. Galateea Posted March 22, 2017 Report Share Posted March 22, 2017 This still counts as a Masca-related question: am I the only one who would give her firstborn and promise to bear demon spawn just so I can find out what happens next in Masca: The Kings? I know for sure that in Korea vol 4 is already out and running, so to say. The wait is literally killing me. The time skip at the end of Masca showed that quite a lot of time had passed and Rell ended up a Great Mage (but i think something is wrong because the epilogue implied that she was siding with the Belials in the war, but Kainen didn't seem to be with her), but in the sequel, Masca: The Kings not that much time after Masca, we see Kainen alive and visiting Rakin (who doesn't seem too happy) and poor Rell still desperately looking for that big idiot (Kainen in case you were wondering). Any theories and predictions as fellow hard-core fans?
