Such wonderful, soft, fluffy little creatures they are~
However! There is a severe problem plaguing the world’s chinchilla population. You see, chinchillas love language. They love it so much that when they see it used improperly, they just can’t go on! D: Our adorable little friends very much enjoyed National Grammar Day in the U.S. a few days ago on March fourth, a date that, by the power of homophones, can also be a complete sentence (March forth!). But, as they explored the internet looking for grammar memes and such, their giggles were gradually stifled. So much poor, butchered English (and other languages as well) did they encounter that, by the end of the day, they were lining up at the edge of a cliff preparing to channel the spirits of the video game versions of their rodent brethren, the lemmings!
Both as a proofreader and as a lover of cuteness, I feel that it is my duty to inform all of you readers out there of these poor little creatures’ plight. For the most part, the chinchillas can handle a few slip-ups here and there, and they can accept a little slacking off in casual conversation, and of course they’re generally fine with altered language for the sake of jokes and the like… but when they see people mixing up “thereâ€, “they’reâ€, and “theirâ€; “it’s†and “itsâ€; “idle†and “idolâ€; etc., they begin losing their will to go on. Each time a human speaks or writes in such a butchered manner, a chinchilla meets with a terrible fate! D:
In summary, on this most chinchillarific day and from now on, dear readers, please do your best to use your language properly, keeping in mind all that I have said today. Do it for the chinchillas!
See this guy? This guy is a master of correct language usage. Don’t you want to be like him so that you can have an adorable little chinchilla friend on your shoulder as well?
Wait, what’s that? It’s not International Chinchilla Appreciation Day? It’s actually International Women’s Day? Well, darn… Oh well, in that case, please be aware of lingering gender discrimination and all that stuff as well. Here’s a link about it: http://www.internationalwomensday.com/
Even so, please keep the rest of what I've said here in mind too! Don’t destroy languages when you use them. SAVE THE CHINCHILLAS!
