Evil Flowers

Yup, the long awaited Birthday Release is here!! It’s already the 21st here in Romania, but I heard that in some parts of the world it’s still the 20th, so please save me, people from Hawaii!!! Tell me it’s still the 20th there!

Before I get to the part that everyone’s been waiting for, I’m going to bore you to death with some history! This group was formed on May 20, 2009…well, that was when we had our first release ever, but the group was actually formed around March by me and 2 friends because we wanted to share our favorite mangas online for other people to enjoy. And then my boyfriend stepped in and told me he’d help me design the site. He’s still around, the phantom admin called Deus. XD I was in a scanlation group at that time, so I knew the basics of editing and a little about how a group should organize; so I said: “Hell, why not?”. I never thought that I would go so far with this group. I originally planned it to be something to waste my college years with, but in the end it transformed into something really serious. I can’t count the number of times my staff and I have stayed up late in order to be able to release on time. Even now, while I’m typing this, I can see another beautiful sunrise XD. The reason I do this: I love our projects, I love releasing them to our fans, and most of all I love it when I see my staff happy after each released chapter. [Well…except when I mess up the credits; then they come to get me...*hides*] And at the end of each release I feel complete inside. Evil Flowers’ staff are wonderful people and I managed to get some quotes from the ones who weren’t lying around dead after all the work I’ve put them through. Here’s what the few who were still able to type something after the destructive last weeks had to say XD:

Nekomikoto: “I enjoyed working with EF (Even though I’ve only been here for maybe 3 months?^^) everyone here is so nice and friendly, and we have a hilarious time together ”

Rae: “Evil Flowers isn’t just another manga group, it’s a family. In the little over a year I’ve been here I’ve seen people come and people go, but none are ever really forgotten. This year everyone worked so hard! It amazed me every time I saw the list grow, and I hope that you all enjoy this mega release as much as we enjoy being able to bring it to you! It’s hard work but always fun!”

Holanio: “I came for the manhwa, haha. And then I met Sphear… and Noir (again) and… I stayed. ”

x5ga: “yay for bigass release! Experience with EF?
I was randomly grabbed by Tessa. I’ve been an editor for a year and a half, head proofreader for half a year or so, and QCer since God knows when. I love most of the people here (especially a certain oneesama :3). Everyone is nice and hard-working except for desu, my second-in-command tsundere thing, whom I love and hate at the same time. I love lolis and ponies (tessa you better add this ohohoho) “Tessa’s comment: just because I’m too tired to censor your message right now! XD”. I was the resident Keeper of the Lolis till I gave up the title. I have err, a wife, 3 daughters and one younger sister! ohoho. I’m also ayne’s part-time slave. I sometimes go by the names “the cat”, “kitty”, and many others that I can’t remember right now. I love cleaning SFX, much to the TSer’s despair. If mirror 1 server doesn’t load, it’s because I stepped on the power wire or on the network cable.

Lat: “Wow Evil Flowers is three years old! <3 I joined EF as a QCer when it was only 6 months old, and it really does feel like everyone has grown up together as one big family I hope to stay here for many more years, and hope that all our readers and staff decide to do the same
Everyone has worked so hard for this anniversary release- we have managed to produce many chapters Like seriously- SO MANY CHAPTERS XD hehe I really hope everyone enjoys reading them <3

I first joined EF more or less a year ago as the youngest, insignificant proofreader, but now I have been promoted to being the “Proofreading Loli”. (Is that considered an accomplishment? XD) I’ve been in many scanlation groups, but Evil Flowers is definitely my favorite because everyone’s so friendly and I always have fun working with them. Even though I’ve been semi-active/constantly procrastinating recently, I still hope to stay for many years to come~ ^^

Cheesecake: “Missery and I had some doubts about today’s release, but after weeks of hard work, everyone was able to pull off an ultimate anniversary release this year. Now we can finally pass out and relax for the next couple days.
I have joined a couple of scanlation groups during the past years, but I never felt like I fit in any of them until I joined Evil Flowers, because this is where I found my second family. Besides scanlating, we laugh and joke together during the happy times, and we comfort and keep each other in company during the sad times. Hopefully we will be able to stay like this for a very long time and meet each other in real life. X5ga, you made a promise to make that happen, so you better keep it. xD ”

Melita_H: “I am really trying to come up with something to say that is interesting and/or profound and/or entertaining…but, I’m not sure how well that’s working out…
I’ve only been here for a little while, but EF already feels like a group of close family/friends to me, which is a very nice feeling. Things are fun, everyone is awesome, and it’s great being able to put my obsessive grammar nerdiness to use, so yay! XD Also, some random other good things here: Ponies, cakes, catacomb beasts, a zillion cats, the kitty doc knowing things most other docs don’t, long lost people I’d never met before, kindred spirits, support, advice, pretty pictures, ninja pandas, and, um…lots of other stuff…whee! ”

Nanitatsu: “happy bday EF! although i’m new here (only a week old), it’s been fun. all the staff has been very helpful (especially lat!!!) and willing to help when asked. i’ve been in one other scanlation group, and EF is sooooo much bigger it’s a whole new experience! i hope to be here for the next bday and of a lot of help!”

ayne: “My post, beware- it’s long:
I’ve been for like 2 years here now and I can surely say EF wouldn’t be as awesome as it is without the staff we have here. A big thank you goes to Tessa, who started this crazy thing with Deus and never gave up on it, so EF’s still here- to this day. It surely wasn’t always easy but she and everyone pulled it through. Another thank you goes to my past and present staff buddies, Hira(evil genius, skype gossip <3), x5ga(the doc 8D), Megs(twin!), tosh(skype “honey” xD) Sora(cute and adorable), Lat(100% good mood), missery(great and reliable) CC(food <3 + the visionary), Cellas(bishies!), moonsong(fav tl), hika(that ps skill), and Rae(so random ). I joined this group roughly nine months ago, although I doubt that I’ve managed to proofread even ten chapters in that time… ~_~ <— (Well aware of her laziness). It’s an awesome scanlation group though, with loads of brilliant, albeit clichéd, shoujo projects, as well as lots of cute girls amazing staffers (including x5ga, who manages to get all the lolis, despite being a cat-obsessed ossan. I really hope you all enjoy this release post, especially since an inhumane amount of effort and some minor harassment all our love was put into completing some of these projects~ Oh, last but not least, YURI GARDEN FTW. ”

EF is a nice group- what I like most about it is how well organized it is and how it’s very user friendly, no complicated irc or “download from this site do this on that site etcetc.”
I think for most people who are kinda unsure about joining Scanlation groups, EF is a good place to start because it is made easy for you, and the people are really nice I can count more then one time I threw a page at Koko to clean for me or asked Kitty for help on how to do something (thank you both so much )
I originally joined Pink Rose Scans and merged over to EF. I came back to EF after a years break because even one year later, the series I liked just wasn’t moving along(one chapter was released over the year)- it really does make a difference to be part of the process. And today two volumes of that series will be released ! I’m really happy and grateful to everyone here for their hardwork ~<3 ”

I decided to join a scanlation group after years months of reading manga online. So I applied to PRS and was told that they have merged with EF, so EF is the first group I started working for. I got to know everyone on CB <—Great place to lurk/gossip/meet awesome people/chataboutstupidthings! They were all so nice and friendly (tocchan/x5ga had a scary aura though…but now he’s my sweetheart <3) *ahem* I felt so relieved and glad that it was EF I joined. Like what the other staff has said, we are like one big happy family here, sharing our joy and sorrow~and how we should procrastinate each day, it’s great!
I hope EF will continue to be the way it is now, with awesome staffers and supporting readers!

Well, it’s been nearly a year since I joined EF (for Goong, ahahaha) and it was (and still is) my first experience as a cleaner. At first I just wanted to join EF to help them finish Goong but now I’m sure I’ll stay because everyone is so nice, sweet and, most of the time crazy, that I just love to be part of this.
